Jerry Smith

Veterinarian

Jerry Smith, DVM, graduated from Kansas State University, School of Veterinary Medicine, after an illustrious career as a nuclear trained electrician on submarines in the US Navy. Not content with hiding beneath the waves, he re-entered academia as an animal science major at the University of Connecticut, before venturing back to his home state of Kansas for vet school. Graduating in 2004, Dr. Smith has spent most of the last 17 years doing small animal emergency medicine around the Wyoming Valley area. He is now ready to settle in as a general practitioner at the Fishing Creek and Berwick clinics.

Asked about his interests, Dr. Smith says: I’m pretty content relaxing at home with our three border collies (Brix, Spy, and Cru) and two cats (Bellatrix and Hemmingway). I play some guitar, read, write a little, drink wine, and watch a lot of baseball in the season. Our fifteen year old son plays football in high school and I’m learning to appreciate that as well. I’m looking for a nice place to practice for the years I have left before retirement. I think I’ve found it here at Fishing Creek. The clients are friendly and seem to really care about their animals. I look forward to building relationships with all of you over the coming years.
